First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed the 2016 Official White House Christmas Tree to the White House.
WASHINGTON, DC (November 25, 2016)-First lady Michelle Obama accepted her family's final holiday season at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. by receiving a 19-foot Balsam-Veitch fir as the official White House Christmas Tree. This year’s White House Christmas Tree will be on display in the Blue Room, it is a 19 foot Douglas Fir donated by a tree farm in Pennsylvania. The tree was presented to Mrs. Obama and her nephews; 6yr old, Austin and 4yr old, Aaron Robinson, by Dave and Mary Vander Velden of Oconto, Wisconsin, winners of the 2016 National Christmas Tree Association national tree contest. Members of the National Christmas Tree Association have presented the official White House Christmas Tree for display in the Blue Room since 1966.
